Our History

Roots in Trade & Faith
The journey of the Cutchi Visa Oswal community in Mumbai began in the mid-19th century, as early pioneers settled around the bustling markets of South Mumbai. Trade, discipline, and Jain values shaped a close-knit community from the very beginning.

The Spiritual Anchor
By 1914, the growing collective spirit led to the establishment of Aadeshwar Bhagwan Jinalay, which soon became the heartbeat of religious, social, and cultural initiatives of the Mahajan.

A Structured Trust for a Growing Community
In 1953, Shree Cutchi Visa Oswal Deravasi Jain Mahajan (CVODJM) Trust was formally established as a public charitable trust. Its management is democratically elected by members every five years, ensuring transparency and collective responsibility. Over time, the Mahajan became the administrative backbone of key Jain institutions across Mumbai and Palitana.

A Living Institution Serving Every Need
Today, CVODJM serves as the administrative heart of multiple religious, educational, and welfare institutions, including:
- Jinalay Management: Aadeshwar Jinalay (Chinch Bunder & Palitana), Jirawala Parshwanath Jinalay (Ghatkopar), Suvidhinath Jinalay (Lalbaug)
